About PoemLake

PoemLake is a free library of more than 40,000 love poems and classic poems, in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Hungarian. You can read every poem without an account, and browse by poet, by language, or with search.

Where the texts come from

Most of the poems come from Wikisource, Bartleby.com and Project Gutenberg. Where we know a poem's source, it is linked below the text, as the original page or an archived copy, so you can check the two against each other.

The texts are transcriptions of older printed editions, so spelling can reflect the edition, and mistakes can slip in. Please tell us if you find one.

Copyright

The collection focuses on older works, but copyright terms differ by country and we can't guarantee the status of every poem where you live. If you hold the rights to a text on this site and want it removed, write to us and we will review it promptly.

How the site is funded

PoemLake publishes its own poetry anthologies, and links to them and other books on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, PoemLake earns from qualifying purchases. Reading the poems is free. See the Privacy Policy for what is measured when you visit.
