Von Frauen sah ich eine holde Schar
Am Allerheil'gentag, der jüngst verflossen,
Und eine stellt' als herrlichste sich dar;
Zur Rechten führt' sie Minne als Genossen.

Dem Aug' entquoll ein Licht, glanzhell und klar,
Das wie ein Geist erschien, von Glut umgossen;
Ich sah ihr kühn ins Angesicht: es war
Das Bildnis eines Engels, lichtentsprossen.

Es grüßte, die wohl dessen würdig waren,
Mit ihren Augen diese Hohe, Milde,
Und ließ die Herzen drob mit Kraft sich paaren.

Mich dünkt, sie stammt aus himmlischem Gefilde!
Zum Heil mocht' sie zu uns herniederfahren:
O selig, nah zu sein dem Engelsbilde!
